Doc's Group Therapy | May 18th, 2013Saturday May 18th was Doc’s Group Therapy Comedy Broadcast / Podcast (Pork’n on the Run) broadcast live (http://www.MixLR.com/docs-group-therapy) and recorded at Whole Hog Café (www.WholeHogCafeNLR.com), North Little Rock.  We talked local gossip, stuff about runners you probably didn’t know and would say ewww and WOW at the same time.  We also talked about Little Rock stuff going on, other comedy stuff, food prep bathroom style, and a pile more.  There were laughs all the way through the show.  This was a longer than normal podcast but definitely full of fun and funny.   This could not have been a more perfect venue for Pork’n on the Run.  Great food, drink selection, atmosphere, location, staff, and GREAT fun!  If you haven’t been, you need to and tell them Doc prescribed you some BBQ.

The panel included host Michael ‘Doc’ Davis, his awesome geeky co-host Grant Morris, bored-board man Luke Rowlan, Gina Marchese Pharis from the Little Rock Marathon (www.LittleRockMarathon.com) and Mud Run (www.MudRun.org) for Little Rock Parks and Recreation (www.LittleRock.org/ParksRecreation), Michael Brown (http://ComedianMichaelBrown.weebly.com/ an AWESOME local but nationally touring comedian along with his lady Ali Taylor, the staff of Whole Hog Café, especially Mike.  Even the Pit Master, Mr. Butler got in on the fun and on the mic.  Our photographer is the one and only Nurse Jill Rowlan and she also had a few things so share.  A special thanks to Grant’s girl Lauren Faehl for helping with everything.  A very special thanks to Nancy Green, the owner of Whole Hog Café in North Little Rock.  We also wanted to send a shout out to Geneva Hampton who is also with the City of Little Rock for Little Rock Marathon and Mud Run and with us in thoughts.  RUNNERS ROCK!

Doc’s Group Therapy Comedy Broadcast / Podcast was broadcast (http://www.MixLR.com/docs-group-therapy and recording live at Diamond Bear Brewing Company, Little Rock, Arkansas – March 30th.  We talked about the brewery / beer, zombies, monsters in film, answered questions, and other stuff.

The panel included host Michael ‘Doc’ Davis, his awesome geeky co-host Grant Morris, bored-board man Luke Rowlan, John Melton (Diamond Bear Brewery), Sharpe Dunaway (www.Sharpe993.com), and Scott Romine (Film Dude) & whoever else needs a little therapy.  Our photographer is the one and only Nurse Jill Rowlan.

John Melton, Bonz, Andy Applegate, Ken Haycook, among others were very welcoming to the Diamond Bear Brewery (www.DiamondBear.com)!  We were glad to see that our show was able to help pack out the tour and tastings.  It was packed to the point some folks even had to be turned away, but they will be coming back.  We appreciate the Diamond Bear Brewery for having us at their incredible place.

Tours and Tasting are at 3PM on Sunday’s and Saturdays.  This brewery really does have some incredible beers and they have been around since 1999.  I was asked what my favorite was and I replied, “The one on tap or in a bottle!”  This is a great place, with great people and great beer including root beer.  We all look forward to going back.  It’s a must visit and revisit location.  You better do it soon because they will be moving to a new location.  When you go, please tell them Doc or Doc’s Group Therapy sent you.

Doc’s Group Therapy Comedy Podcast at Fox and Hound (www.FoxAndHound.com)  in North Little Rock, Arkansas.  This was our biggest panel yet that included host Michael ‘Doc’ Davis, his awesome co-host Grant Morris, bored-board man Luke Rowlan, Sharpe 99.3FM’s Sharpe Dunaway (www.sharpe993.com), Angela Dunaway, Matt the Cigar Guy, and Lori K (Mrs. Cigar Guy).  Our photographer was the one and only Nurse Jill Farris.  We talked about cigars and our experiences with them both good and bad that included an interesting story about Sweet Sweet Connie.  We discussed holiday time and stuff from the past and current and WOW were some people needing therapy!  We closed the show out with Un-DOC-Umented News (www.UnDocUmentedNews.com) with stories about Gay Elmo, Paid Sex Changes in California, Death Cat and much more.  EVERYTHING WAS HILARIOUS! 

Fox and Hound was packed and we met several new folks that listened in as we recorded.  Our server Kita was OUTSTANDING and she played along with us very well.  Fox and Hound was so courteous to us and made many adjustments just so that we could have a great podcast!  These people are an all around 5 Stars!

Before we wrapped up the show, the UFC fights began on the big screen and since we all have real bad ADD, we wrapped up the show.  Ironicly Doc is now the ring announcer for XFI MMA (www.TheXFI.com).  We could have probably talked for another 2 hours.

We had a blast in the practice room of Dirty Lindsey in Conway Arkansas.  We talked about the origins of the band members and the name of the band which was quite interesting to say the least.  You can hear some of Dirty Lindsey’s music on www.R80-o.com or check them out at http://www.Facebook.com/DirtyLindsey.  Then we broke into what scared the crap out of us as kids, who scared us, movies that were just plain freaky and MUCH more!  Finally we closed it out with Un-Doc-Umented News (Real News with a Twist of Doc) that included stuff about texting cliff jumpers, testicle biters, road kill found at a restaurant and much more.  The final story was about some crazy dude that dropped the question and the rest is history… CONGRATULATIONS Luke and Jill!  The show was absolutely hilarious!  The next show will be November 2012 and it will be a special themed session called smoking turkeys.  Several other folks and naked’ish type establishments were mentioned from around about the state of Arkansas.

Kevin Clay (www.KevinClayCreative.com), Mr. Cat, and Wolf Dog were incredible hosts.  We ate well, never went thirsty, and the cigars were AWESOME!  This was our first show outside and it was a PERFECT day for it.  Who would have thought that Docs Group Therapy would be outside in August in Arkansas and not one drop of sweat?  We talked about social media and business with quite a few little twists and turns but somehow ended up being very informative, thanks to Kevin Clay.  We even mentioned the one and only Sharpe Dunaway.  We then went straight into the topic of the month which was social networking and it’s affects on us and our lives and this included a story about our friend Blake Woodson.  Finally we closed it out with Un-Doc-Umented News (Real News with a Twist of Doc)… We were able to include at least one story from the Facebook page of Docs Group Therapy (www.FaceBook.com/DocsGroupTherapy.com) about Scott and him showing off his privates on MySpace by accident… The show was absolutely hilarious!  The next show will be October 2012 and it will be a special themed session and then a HUGE show in November.

MacDaddy’s really catered to the show by providing plenty refreshing and super cold beer along with some great grub. You can get to MacDaddy’s at 314 North Maple Street N Little Rock, AR 72114. This place was AWESOME! They have a pile of pool tables, great food, service, dance floor, and more! We all had a blast to say the least. We talked about the dark side of comedy among some other aspects of it. We then dove into our topic of the month, which was phobias and I’ll just say… midgets and cans of biscuits were not what I was expecting. The representative of the biscuit can phobia was on scene and her name was Angie Woods. She made some folks in the room feel quite sane, and we loved her. Then we went into Un-Doc-Umented News (Real News with a Twist of Doc)… The show was AWESOME and hilarious! A must listen…

The show included some behind the scenes funny stuff about movie making (www.TuckermanMovie.com), the panel’s thought on this summer season including hairy people, Un-DOC-Umented News (www.UnDocUmentedNews.com) with a new twists, and final thoughts. 

Doc’s Group Therapy Podcast (www.DocsGroupTherapy.com) was recorded live at Knight Play on June 22nd and is the funniest comedy talk show out of Arkansas.   The panel included host Michael ‘Doc’ Davis, his awesome geeky side kick Grant Morris, bored-board man Luke Rowlan, photographer birthday girl Jill Farris, Crew and Actor Tony Gschwend from the feature movie Tuckerman, Drew Mitchell (aka Half Moon) from the Point 94.1 and Doug Cantrell with Knight Play Bar and Grill. 

This was an awesome show and hilarious from the start with Doug Cantrell of Knight Play Bar & Grill / Castle Valley Golf Course (www.GolfofCastleValley.com).  The entire show was recorded live from the stage at Knight Play Bar and Grill.  This was a pretty awesome location right in the middle of a golf course.  Karaoke followed the show and yep Doc even got up and sang ‘I got friends in low places…’.  Doc even gave the birthday girl, Jill Farris, birthday spankings and he also cheered on Luke Rowlan in very close proximity as Luke was on stage singing.   Let’s just say that you would have to ask him to understand what this really means.

There were many laughs had by all and you may want to make sure to listen to this session while not driving… it just might make you wreck.
